Supporting Our Children’s Home and Teen Shelter during the Winter Months
As we enter into January and approach the winter season, it is important to think about our children and teens and how we can help those who are in need. Supporting our homelessness youth during this time of year can meaningfully impact their lives and help our agency when costs frequently go up.
As the weather gets colder consider contributing to our shelters. We help youth ages 1-17 who are displaced due to abuse, runaway/homelessness, and family conflict. Donating items like winter apparel, clothing, blankets, toiletries, and non-perishable food can have a significant impact. There are also plenty of opportunity to volunteer during this busy time of year. Participating in donations drives or food drives for homeless youth is another way that you can get involved and help foster a sense of belonging and joy within your community.
Sharing hope can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, making it especially helpful for those without stable homes and connections. This Valentine’s Day consider extending support not only in materialistic ways like donations but also by fostering emotional well-being. Small acts of kindness and understanding can greatly impact the emotional resilience of youth facing homelessness, reminding us all of the importance of compassion and connection during this time.
Here are more ways you can help our organization-
Consider giving “a gift of choice” to the youth in our shelter during this winter season! Gift cards are a perfect way to empower young people to pick out what they truly need or want. Whether it’s for clothing, groceries, school supplies, or a little treat, your donation can make a big difference.
