Please support the

Children’s Aid Society of West Texas Inc. through Texoma Gives

Dear friends and family,

As the Executive Director of the Children’s Aid Society, I want to take a moment to share the vital role we play in the shelter, supervision, and protection of abused and homeless youth ages 2-17 here in Wichita Falls and the surrounding 11 counties of North Texas and Regions 2,9, 3 for the DFPS system.

Admission to the shelter is the result of abuse, neglect, and abandonment sustained in the home. While at the Children’s Aid Society, an assessment is done to determine trauma care needs. The assessment process includes psychological, physical, and educational evaluations of the youth. This allows us (Children’s Home and Teen Shelter) to assign an accurate level of care to the youth. The intent is to be able to place the youth in the most appropriate placement as soon as possible and keep them from bouncing around the Foster Care system. Children are nurtured, loved, and educated while at the Children’s Home. Every effort is made to make what can be an unpleasant time in their lives as comfortable and happy as possible. The Children’s Home has been in operation helping children in our current location since 1976.

Teen Emergency Shelter opened in 1992, specifically to meet the needs of homeless and runaway youth, deter school dropouts, and strengthen families. Our Teen Shelter is an eight-bed coed facility licensed to accept kids ages 10 to 17. Our shelter is the only facility of its kind within a 100-mile radius. Admission to the shelter is voluntary, but often the result of a referral by a school, Juvenile Probation, CPS, the Police, or one of the 34 Safe Place sites in the area.

Our work is made possible through the generous donations from individuals like you. The Children’s Aid Society relies on community support to fund our operations, and every contribution helps us continue our mission. Our agency not only shelters youth but also stives to educate our community through outreach and prevention services for at-risk youth. Through community and school, and outreach programs, we aim to promote a greater understanding of the safety needs for at-risk and abused youth in our area.

On or before Thursday, September 5th, I kindly ask you to consider donating through the link provided. Your support will enable us to continue our essential services to both children and teens in the North Texas and Regions 2,9,3 to keep kids safe in Texas. Together, we can make a difference!
