We are blessed by those who have given to help our children and agency over the past 112 years of service. The community’s ongoing compassion for the youth in our shelters is truly something to feel thankful for this holiday season.

The Children’s Defense Organization reminds us that every 47 seconds a child is abused or neglected. Every 29 seconds, a child is born into poverty. In Texas more than 100,000 youth ages 7-18 run away annually. Our community realizes crisis services are needed. Our supporters want to help children facing abuse or homelessness feel safe again; and we appreciate those acts of kindness.

Much was accomplished this year. We built a bike and walking trail called the “Right Track” with the help of Impact 100. Our focus was increasing resilience through creativity and recreational play. This reduces stress and improves coping skills during traumatic events. We replaced our old commercial stove and refrigerator to better serve our youth this fall. We were able to keep our buildings looking warm and inviting for the children. None of this was possible without your kindness and support. Donors make such a difference in these many projects. God Bless you for your help each year!

We really appreciate those who were able to give in-kind donations or items from Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Donors make such a difference in these many projects. This year we are needing financial donations, gift cards, or items to help make Christmas a magical memory that the youth can cherish. The children who live in our shelters range in age from 2 – 17 years. This year we are requesting gift cards from Target, Walmart, 5Below, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Mardels, Academy, Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Books-A-Million, Sams, Urban Air, Skating and Mini Golf, Bowling, Movie Theaters, Papa Johns, Braums, McDonalds, Chick-fil-A, United Grocery, Sonic, Dairy Queen, Taco Casa, Whataburger, or Amazon. (Gift cards in values of $10.00 or greater).

Look for specific needs or wish lists on our website www.caswt.org or Facebook- Children’s Aid Society of West Texas Inc. This is great for those who want shop but are busy.

This year Santa will find his way to the shelter with your kindness. We are trying to work on our wish lists, keeping in mind our numbers change all the time and we can even get kids in on Christmas day. So extra toys and gift cards help us at Christmas and also during 2025. Most importantly, believing in hope and that life can be better is the best gift of all!
